Curricula Vitae Summary

I started my career ten years ago as a mental health technician at an impatient behavioral hospital while I pursued my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. My experience expanded post master's in a local mental health authority as a clinical case manager where my focus in social determinants of health and marginalized populations was grounded in the realities my clients faced daily. My focus was solidified when I shifted into management and clinical supervision of a rural outpatient community mental health center.

As a counselor, I have provided services to adults throughout various stages of life. In my community roles, I worked with clients to meet their goals while addressing the challenges of chronic mental illness and pervasive mental health needs. As a counselor and clinical case manager at a Hispanic Serving Intuition designated university in the campus counseling center setting, I have worked with clients to navigate the challenges of higher education, life, and campus and community systems to meet their goals. Throughout my roles, I have extensive crisis response experiences including suicide intervention, prevention, and postvention including identifying natural supports and engaging emergency or community services when necessary and beneficial.

My current work centers on counseling as a generalist, clinical case management, and community liaison in a university setting.  As a community engagement specialist, suicide prevention educator, and counseling center campus trainer, my presentation and outreach experience is vast and varied. I have extensive community outreach and public presentation experience including social media as an advocacy platform.
